Shelter Services

Mesa County Animal Services will start moving into a temporary facility and office trailer which we will operate out of until late November 2017 while our current facility repairs are completed. While Animal Services is making every effort to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Animal Services recognizes the impact these changes may have on the community during this period and asks for the public’s patience during this time. We are working diligently to try and minimize the impact to the public. Once the current facility is repaired, we will invite the public to our grand opening.

Welcome to the Shelter Side of Mesa County Animal Services. This section is dedicated to managing displaced pets that are often in need of veterinary care or first aid to recover from the hazards of running loose in our community.

We are committed to providing each animal with the following:

  • Freedom from hunger and thirst by ready access to fresh water and a diet to maintain health and vigor.
  • Freedom from discomfort by providing an appropriate environment including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
  • Freedom from pain, injury or disease by prevention or diagnosis and treatment.
  • Freedom to express normal behavior by providing sufficient space and proper facilities.
  • Freedom from fear and distress by ensuring conditions and treatment which avoid mental suffering.

In addition, MCAS provides educational information about pet ownership.  This includes owner requested euthanasia, pet licensing and Project PUPs-spay neuter assistance.
